Floating

Lake Windermere on a stormy June day

Below is a short poem I wrote earlier this week when I was struggling with the overwhelming workload I always have this time of year.

Deep water frightens me
Whenever it’s too deep to stand
Despite swimming lessons
I’m much happier on dry land

Swimming is a struggle
I fear I will drown if I stop
Can I learn to lie back
And peacefully float on the top?

Floating seems so easy
But you must abandon your will
Trusting the deep water
Will hold you up, and just keep still
